Vintage Inspiration For Thanksgiving Decoration
Vintage inspiration for Thanksgiving decorations can be found almost everywhere this coming season. You can use things that you have around the house. For example, you can borrow from family and friends, or redo and revamp some items you already have. The trick to putting everything together is to just have fun with it. Leave the stress out of the holiday season.Â
Vintage Thanksgiving Tablescapes
Tablescapes utilizing vintage goods can be a fun way for you to incorporate vintage and retro vibes. You can have retro vibes in your kitchen, dining room, living room, and any other room around your house that you want to decorate. Layering pieces together is a great way to incorporate newer pieces with vintage and retro pieces. For example, layering a vintage tablecloth and newer serving platters and wooden bowls with vintage candlesticks would make a beautiful table for your evening festivities.Â
Thrifted Finds For Your Thanksgiving Table
One of the best ways to gather your vintage and retro decorations is to search thrift stores. You would be surprised how many plate and cup sets you can actually find at a thrift store. If you have time, or are celebrating a Friendsgiving on a different date, then you can also search online thrift stores. Online thrift stores can be a great option if time is not a problem for you.
If you are pressed for time, then visit a few of your local thrift stores. Look for serving platters, cups, plates, saucers, vintage tablecloths, candlestick holders, vases, and detailed fall leaf garlands that can be draped over the table or hung up around a door frame. While you’re at it, you can also search for clothing in your color schemes so that you match your holiday decor. Doing a fun DIY project would also be a great way to use thrifted finds.
Natural Elements For A Vintage Thanksgiving Vibe
Using natural elements when crafting together your Thanksgiving scene will give you a very vintage Thanksgiving look and feel. Use natural elements such as wood serving bowls, linen cloths on the table, and fresh flowers in pretty vases. Even the vases could be natural elements. Add pinecones, branches, and platters of fresh fruit to bring out a vintage vibe in your tables and surrounding party areas.
Inexpensive Thanksgiving Decorations
One of my absolute favorite textiles to decorate with is lace. Lace curtains look very retro boho chic. You can use lace as an accent piece in a room, or as the main decoration piece that you build the look around. Honestly, sometimes keeping it simple is the best way to put together a beautiful table for you and your guests. Repurposing key pieces you may already have at home is a wonderful way to decorate without breaking the bank.
Vintage Thanksgiving Colors
The use of colors is very important when thinking about the general look and feel of your decorations. Color theory and color psychology have identified colors with feelings. We can use colors to help give off the feel and vibe that is associated with nostalgia and coziness. Your color palette should focus on warm and earthy colors as your main colors for a cozy retro look. The main colors to focus on are browns, oranges like in earthy pumpkins, dark olive greens, mustard yellows, and crimson reds. You can use rich accent colors such as white and navy blue. Look for these colors for your tablescapes, room decorations, centerpieces, wall art, plates, and knick-knacks.
Vintage Cornucopia
Cornucopias are representative of many different things. First, they represent an abundance of goodness. They are meant to represent a great deal of plenty, of not being in need of anything. It also represents a thankfulness for the abundance surrounding you. You can thrift a cornucopia, use a family heirloom, or make one out of charcuterie! Personally, I like the charcuterie cornucopia option. Either way, using a cornucopia on your table as a centerpiece is a great way to add a little bit of vintage charm to your Thanksgiving holiday.
